Corporate Social Responsibility
We’ve helped thousands of Not-For-Profits across Canada stretch their limited budgets up to four times further. Let us help you.
Founded in 1988 by Chief Bargain Officer, Jody Steinhauer, Bargains Group has grown into Canada’s favourite discount wholesaler of clothing, fashion accessories, children’s toys and gifts, bedding, personal hygiene products, promotional products, and more for companies, individuals, and Not-For-Profit organizations from coast to coast.
Bargains Group is committed to making a difference to our clients, employees, communities and environment. Our goal is to engage those around us so they feel inspired and appreciated, and we are constantly exploring avenues in which to enhance our environmental, economic, and social performance.
"We realize that it takes more than one small business to make a change, but all of us here at Bargains Group know that this change has to start somewhere!"
Bargains Group: Our Culture
The Bargains Group employees are what make it a great company. We hire people who are outgoing, self-starters, smart and ready to take on any challenge. Although the team shares a common goal for the company we strive to hire those that originate from different parts of the world. By surrounding ourselves and celebrating different cultures we feel that we are able to connect better with our customers and understand them more.
Jody Steinhauer, President of Bargains Group, is a tireless not-for-profit advocate, and supports her belief of “giving back makes good business sense” by encouraging her employees to donate some of their time, during business hours, to helping those who need it. Whether it is building winter survival kits to hand out in the community, or sourcing donations for one of the many charities we deal with. “Giving back” is more than a philosophy at the Bargains Group, it’s the heartbeat. Jody is the founder of Project Water and Project Winter Survival, annual initiatives that help thousands of Toronto’s homeless population, and is the backend to hundreds of similar projects across Canada. Recently, she founded the national charity Engage and Change, which will look to bring Project Winter Survival and Project Water to every major city in Canada.
The social space at Bargains Group is in the centre of the building, encouraging staff to interact, share stories, and break together. We understand the importance of conversation and how it leads to the generation of great ideas.
Bargains Group: Mentorship
Mentorship is a core component at the Bargains Group, and the reason that many choose to apply here. We encourage growth and want to celebrate the people that work for us, and do so by offering and hands on mentorship program. Jody Steinhauer the CEO and CBO (Chief Bargains Officer) enjoys nothing more than mentoring her staff on entrepreneurship, philanthropic practices, and the power of networking. Jody’s wealth of knowledge comes from 30 years of experience, building an award winning company from the ground up, and public speaking internationally. These skills and expertise are available to our team to help them grow.
